Gig Picks/On Tour

May Gig Picks

May already? This year’s going quick. We saw some great shows in April. Tours overlapping from last month include Chuck Prophet, Simone Felice and there are still Irish dates to come for Amanda Shires and Rod Picott.

Those Irish dates lead up to and include what looks to be another wonderful Kilkenny Roots Festival over the weekend of May 5th and 6th. Full details are here of a line up that also includes Dan & Willy from Richmond Fontaine, Richard Buckner and much more. Dan & Willy along with Richard Buckner and Peter Bruntnell also play five dates in Winchester, Bury, York, London and Newcastle either side of Kilkenny.

As featured earlier this month, Quiet Loner will be recording his brand new album live on May 10th in Salford. Full details on that can be found at said link.

Howling piano driven rock ‘n’ roll anyone? You’ll be wanting to check out Hans Chew then. His run of shows begin in Sheffield at The Greystones on May 2nd and also take in Brighton’s Great Escape Festival. You can see the rest of the festival line up here.

Canadian trio the Good Lovelies bring their new record Let The Rain Fall to the UK for a nine date run. Their tour begins in East Yorkshire on May 12th, winding up in Lewes on the 25th.

Fellow Canadians Whitehorse also hit these shores in May. Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland as they might otherwise be known head through Edinburgh, Nottingham, Newcastle, Tingewick and finish in Sheffield on the 27th. The tour kicks off in Wakefield on the 22nd.

Also last month we mentioned the debut gig from Sheffield’s Big Convoy. On May 4th they launch their new EP with a show at The Great Gatsby.

Later in the month Big Convoy also play Sheffield’s Shakespeares alongside Killing Fields Of Ontario on the 25th. We brought you news of K.F.O.O.’s new single Cloud a couple of weeks ago. In May they also play gigs in Birmingham, London and Leeds in support of the release.

Dates as always are subject to change. Missed something you think we shouldn’t have? Let us know here. Similarly if you’ve been to a show you’d like to tell the world about, you can contact us via the same page if you would like to consider submitting a review.
