Essential Listening : #24 Rachel Harrington & The Knock Outs

The sweet voiced country soul sounds of Rachel Harrington have caused quite a stir in the UK over the last few years. Building an ever growing audience and with three studio albums behind her, Harrington’s fourth offering has seen a punchy (!) new change of direction.

Cranking up the volume and forming all girl band The Knock Outs, everything has gone a little honky tonk. And quite frankly that can only be a good thing.

The self-titled album’s officially out at the end of April, though can be previewed over at Bandcamp. The ten tracks posted include Moonshine Boy, a reworking that will be familiar to fans of Rachel’s debut record The Bootlegger’s Daughter.

The band are currently in the middle of a UK tour.
